OVERVIEW

SNO911 is seeking candidates for our Finance Manager position in our Everett, WA regional communications facility.  Snohomish County 911 Emergency Communications is a 9-1-1 police, fire and medical public safety communications center serving Snohomish County which processes emergency and non-emergency calls to over 40 police and fire agencies. 

Qualified candidates will have demonstrated experience in accounting and analysis support work, with knowledge of and experience with accounting procedures, practices, systems and equipment. This position provides management level support and oversight for the finance team and the work includes reviewing accounting entries, preparing financial reports, analyzing information, reviewing procedures / practices and making recommendations, and managing work assignments for direct reports. This position prepares the agency annual financial reports, develops the draft annual budget and is the agency lead for the annual state audit. This is an FLSA exempt position.


KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide financial support for the agency’s strategic plan, conduct analysis, and evaluate cost effectiveness on programs and initiatives. Review practices and recommend procedure/policy adjustments
  • Plans, assigns and supervises the work of others. Provide training, coaching and feedback to direct reports
  • Analyzes financial information, reviews practices, and recommends procedure / policy adjustments. Identifies trends and opportunities to lower or control costs
  • Reviews daily and monthly transactions, including journal entries, deposits and funds transfers
  • Reconciles accounts and verifies accuracy, prepares financial statements, supporting documentation
  • Prepares various financial reports utilizing spreadsheets and enters complex formulas and creates pivot tables
  • Prepares agency’s draft annual budget
  • Serves as lead for annual audit


QUALIFICATIONS

A combination of education and related experience sufficient to provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration and
  • At least five (5) years of general accounting experience, which included financial reporting, month end close, account analysis, and
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • At least two (2) years of experience preparing budgets and supervisory experience
  • CPA a plus

 
Preferred additional qualifications:

  • Strongly preferred: BARS training & experience with SAO reporting processes
  • Strong background verifying journal entries, reviewing financial transactions and preparing financial statements
  • Experience with drafting budgets and coordinating department budget requests
  • Experience documenting department procedures
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work independently, and be detail-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify with SNO911’s Core Values, set a good example and be a role model for work and conduct expectations

Starting salary $105,484 - $140,645 DOQ
