OVERVIEW

SNO911 is seeking Dispatcher candidates for the position of Supervisor.  Candidates from outside SNO911 who meet the qualifications listed below may apply and must be willing and able to participate in the Selection Process listed below.

After training, the candidate will be assigned to the floor with future opportunity for appointment to the Office of Training and Standards as it is a rotational assignment (Reference SOP A-030 Office of Training and Standards Appointments).

During the recruiting process for this position, Supervisors will be given the opportunity to provide feedback on each of the current SNO911 Dispatcher candidates.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING: 

  • Current SNO911 employee with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Dispatcher.
  • Strong leadership and decision making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to set a good example and serve as a role model for work, core values and conduct expectations.
  • Ability to promote teamwork and alignment with all work units within the organization.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all internal personnel and external customers.
  • A high level of initiative, discretion and judgment in accomplishing work.
  • Demonstrated record of performance that meets or exceeds standards.
  • Demonstrated record of reliable attendance that meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the Call Taker and Dispatcher positions.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a 911 Communications Dispatcher.
  • CTO experience strongly preferred but not required.

Discuss how you would help improve the overall performance of Dispatchers to better meet performance standards while still working to help create a more positive climate. What have you done personally to improve your own performance to meet standards? 500 words or less.

  1. The SNO911 Code of Ethics provides a guide and commitment by which employees must aspire to. What do you see as the most important section for you to improve on as an employee and why? Provide specific examples. 250 words or less.
  2. In your own words, please explain the importance of Annual Evaluations and the expectations for applying the feedback given. 100 words or less.
  3. Have you applied for this position in the past? If yes, what steps have you taken to apply feedback given to you after the process? If no, what steps have you taken to prepare yourself for the position?  250 words or less.


SELECTION PROCESS:
The selection process will contain the following:

- June 15-25, 2021:

  • Review of all complete application packets.
  • Employee file review
  • Supervisor feedback, review performance evaluations, disciplinary action (if any), corrective action (if any), performance improvement plans (if any) and attendance history.

-Week of June 28, 2021:

  • Proctored written exam consisting of questions from the Personnel Administrative Manual (PAM), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Radio Procedures Manuals.
  • Candidates must score 80% to continue to the Assessment Center.
  • Top 5 candidates will be selected to move forward to the Assessment Center.

-Week of July 12, 2021:

  • Oral board interview.
  • Role play scenario.
  • Timed, open book, written assignment.

 

Candidates must be available to test and interview during these timeframes to be considered for the position.  Only applicants possessing the stated qualifications will be considered for the position.  A full job description is attached.
